For more than a thousand years, the Muslim world played a major role in the global slave trade. From the 7th century through the 19th century—and in some regions even later—Muslim rulers and merchants transported millions of enslaved people from Africa, Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia to North Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia. Enslaved people were used for agriculture, domestic service, military roles, skilled labor, and, in some cases, as concubines.
The Muslim slave trade was one of the largest and longest-lasting slave trading systems in history. However, it was distinct from the transatlantic slave trade, which was primarily organized and controlled by European powers and transported millions of Africans to the Americas.
In summary: The Muslim world played a major and long-lasting role in the global slave trade, while slavery in the Americas was primarily supplied through the European-led transatlantic slave trade.🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱
