@bedside_book_club: The first time I saw this book I was immediately drawn to it. A promise of Pirates, Knights, and a fierce FMC what more could you ask for? The author's writing style pulls you in and really hooks you. We follow Bastion, a failed Knight who comes across our deaf but fierce FMC Ulla who end up in the middle of a mystery that they will have to work together to solve before it's too late. There is tension, intense sword fights, battles and just overall mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat. While I did enjoy the authors writing and the plot of this book, unfortunately there were times it was a bit difficult to follow along as we needed a bit more context. This is a standalone but it is not the first book in this planned series so at times there is some information missing to fully understand certain elements that have happened in the characters pasts. Having said all of that I still adored this world and I can't wait for the next books. I think once they come out and we read them in the order intended we will be able to properly understand all the intricacies of this series. This book is already available, so if you like the sound of this be sure to go check out this authors work.
