@tracy_tysonmd: “A baby’s immune system can’t handle all those vaccines.” This is one of the most common vaccine myths—and one of the easiest to debunk with immunology. 💉 Today’s vaccines contain far fewer antigens than the vaccines children received decades ago, even though they protect against more diseases. 🌎 Your child’s immune system meets thousands of antigens every day from food, dirt, pets, siblings, daycare, and simply breathing. Everyday life challenges the immune system far more than vaccines do. 🧬 Vaccines scheduled for the same visit aren’t chosen for convenience alone. They’re studied together before they’re recommended, and in some cases, giving them together actually produces an immune response that is as good as—or even better than—spacing them out. 📚 Based on what we know about the immune system, scientists have estimated that a child could theoretically respond to well over 10,000 vaccines at once. That’s not because anyone would ever do that—but because the immune system has an extraordinary capacity to recognize many different antigens simultaneously. The question isn’t whether the immune system can handle vaccines. It’s whether we trust decades of immunology over internet myths. As pediatricians, we don’t recommend vaccines because they’re “routine.” We recommend them because the science continues to show they are one of the safest and most effective ways to protect children from serious disease. Science doesn’t ask for blind trust—it earns it through evidence. ❤️ Save this for the next time someone tells you vaccines “overwhelm” the immune system, and follow for more evidence-based pediatrics.#vaccines #vaccinateyourkids #vaccineswork #pediatrics #immunesystem

It’s insane that parents will let their kids die from preventable diseases.

We don’t have enough health education in high school. I’m not surprised parents don’t understand, but the misinformation spread on social media makes them come to a decision and unwilling to ask their pediatrician.
