if blender closed that easily, it probably means the project was already saved and there were no unsaved changes, which is why it didn’t ask if you were sure you wanted to quit. it also has plenty of autosaves and backups, so if you go to the recover last session section, there’s a good chance you’ll find a version that’s very close to the final state of the project.

Yeah Windows has been doing this a LOAD to me recently, it’ll align the Xs and then somehow have a pixel of the window behind showing that it clicks instead
