@cbsnews: For America's 250th anniversary, we spoke to Karen Norris Newsome, a 74-year-old woman in Darlington County, South Carolina, who hopes the values she grew up with will be passed on. “Some of us don't even know who our neighbors are next door,” Newsome says. “Take a plate of cookies over to them and meet them.” #america #fourthofjuly #usa #america250

The America you grew up in is not the America we are living in today. We are too busy working just to survive, not thrive.

I like how some people are taking this negative or political as an American who's lived for 5 years in another country. people here really don't know how special this place is.

A Saudi student in America reading verses from Surat Maryam in a church caused dozens of people from different nationalities and religions to take the initiative to ask a large number of questions about Islamic teachings and the Holy Qur’an. “Sabq” newspaper said: “The reading of Ahmed Jaafar, a master’s student, had a great impact on the hearts of the attendees, as many American media outlets reported the news of the Saudi student reading the Holy Qur’an in a beautiful voice inside the church.” She added: "A large number of attendees asked questions related to Islam to the Saudi students present in the church at the time." Student Ahmed Jaafar stated that this reading was part of the activities of the World Justice Festival, in which Saudi Arabia participated. He pointed out that the scholarships yielded great results in spreading Islamic culture in America, and said: “Despite the differences in religions, cultures, and infidelity, we all live on one planet together, and we must accept different points of view.” Many Saudi students and attendees praised the student, stressing that he is an honorable image of a Muslim student, and that reading it in a beautiful voice inside the church, despite some opposition to reading inside the church, contributed to opening the door to dialogue and introducing many attendees to the Islamic religion and correcting their views on Islam.
