as someone who's autistic, I like your reasoning. I think everyone has their own preference, personally I prefer saying that I HAVE autism, because even though it makes me who I am, it's not all I am. I dont mean that in a way as if it doesn't affect every single thing in my life, because it does, I just mean to say that I'm a lot more than that. I'm also kind, and interesting and have such deep interests in everything I love, and all those things ALSO make me the person I am. even though my autism truly shapes me and it affects my every day life on basically everything you can name, it's also just a part of me. I have blue eyes, I have brown hair, I have autism. But again, everyone has their preference, and I really like your reasoning and agree with you 100%

I have adhd and I truly feel like it’s all encompassing like this. I have to shape my life around it because it effects my job, my rest, my hobbies, my pets, my self esteem and ego, my physical movement and awareness for my surroundings, etc etc. I wish there was a way for me to communicate that in the same way in saying you are autistic is all encompassing 😭
