What you don’t understand at the pro level is, having a good DUPR with legitimately impressive match history unlocks better games and better partners for competition. It’s pretty important at the amateur level, but it’s also pretty easy for people to fake so it does require a decent amount of vetting too.

You can look up anybody’s dupr though so it’s not private information. As an amateur we are curious to see how we compete against different players. It’s normal in the amateur world.

people want to chart their improvement. I have been playing 11 years and its all about software and data......for the better imo im 68 3.89 Dupr......I want to play with people 3.75 to 4.25 nothing else 4.3? 4.4? not fun......3.3? 3.5? also not fun

I agree. I think people are kinda obsessed with their DUPR and if they have a high DUPR, with a 1% reliability, they believe it is high and a good show off number at rec games. 😂

Here's the thing...I couldn't care less about my DUPR or anyone else's, BUT...in our city and community, everything is divided by DUPR. Even Open Play and MLP. The higher rated players are definitely DUPR protecting whether you believe it or not. For example...I am rated very low, but when I play in my division, people accuse me of sandbagging. When I try to play up, it's not allowed and I even asked the tournament director to just moved me up, but the higher division players started complaining. They know if I beat them, their DUPR will take a nosedive. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. But DUPR definitely matters when you're trying to get into various events or programs. I would be happy for them to get rid of DUPR and just let people play wherever they want at any level.
