I've been telling my husband the same thing. It doesn't make sense that public servants have medical aid. They work for the state, they should use state resources.

But its the same argument that can be made about teachers in Public schools sending their kids to private schools, A VW workers who prefers BMW cars, affordability and preference. But I do understand her point in this regard, but I think that's a question for way high up than just healthcare workers at clinics and hospitals, we need to exam it at policy level first, the officials who set the policy framework for our Public Healthcare system, direct those questions there first.

Dr. MM Fakude :
The problem is with the management (including politicians) NOT the healthcare providers. As healthcare providers I am obligated to perform my duties to the best of my ability but without adequate resources I cannot. The blame is shifted towards the providers because they are the closest proximity to the patient. Furthermore, patients refuse to lay formal complaints through the suggestion boxes. Most importantly, the problem won’t end because our people sometimes refuse to equip themselves with right knowledge. Taking videos about poor services and posting them here won’t solve the problem sometimes. You will chase clout but 2 weeks later the problem will still be there because you didn’t hold the correct people accountable. There are brilliant healthcare providers in public but knowing what I just shared above, I will still choose private.

The public hospitals have the same doctors that work in the private sector. Those that go to private hospital go there because you get service faster because there is fewer people.

she is raising a valid point for someone who has been employed as a public servant knows the challenges we are faced with. staff shortage ,non functional equipment , shortage of medicine, long waiting period to see specialist Drs etc all of this contribute towards patient treatment and care.80% of the time we are overwhelmed. so I wouldn't want to find my health in such dilemma..If things where working perfectly in public we wouldn't have medical aid however the struggle is real and we experience it daily with the patients

I think it’s in Singapore where all public officials are mandated to use public services. Which is one of the reasons why their public services are state of the art

Oh my goodness this take is soooooo misguided. Public hospitals especially the tertiary hospitals have some of the best Drs. The system has multiple failures … which affects the quality of care delivered. Vote and let’s try change the system.
