my mom and step mom came here on green cards and then became citizens over time. my mom didn't become a citizen until 10 years later when i was 13. but she was legal to be here the whole time.

I totally get his point and the system is flawed. It needs to be revamp to better process people thru. But you can’t fix a leaking sink without shutting the water off.
