@nbcphiladelphia: Extreme heat and a canceled parade are not stopping people from celebrating Fourth of July weekend in Philadelphia. We spoke with those out celebrating about how they're handling the heat. Philadelphia's Department of Health declared a heat health emergency that began at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026, and will last through 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026. However, officials said the emergency could be extended if conditions worsen.
