Es imposible ver lo que viven tantas mujeres en Afganistán y no sentir tristeza. Nadie debería ser privado de estudiar, trabajar, expresarse o decidir sobre su propia vida. A veces creemos que los derechos siempre estarán ahí, como si fueran imposibles de perder. Pero la historia demuestra lo contrario. Cada derecho que hoy tienen las mujeres fue conseguido gracias al esfuerzo, la valentía y la perseverancia de quienes se negaron a aceptar la desigualdad. Por eso es importante no ser indiferentes. Informarnos, cuestionar, participar y alzar la voz cuando sea necesario no es exagerar, es cuidar lo que tantas personas lucharon por conseguir. No se trata de generar miedo ni de dividir a la sociedad. Se trata de recordar que la igualdad, la libertad y el respeto nunca deben darse por sentados. Una sociedad avanza cuando protege los derechos de todas las personas, no cuando permite que se debiliten. Ojalá nunca tengamos que mirar atrás y pensar que pudimos hacer más. Defender los derechos humanos, incluidos los de las mujeres, es una responsabilidad compartida. El silencio también tiene consecuencias, y por eso vale la pena seguir hablando, informándonos y construyendo un futuro donde ninguna persona tenga que luchar por derechos que deberían estar garantizados.
