@melissadivaristhompson: Anyone who works out knows the secret most couples miss. Your muscles do not get stronger while you are lifting the weight. They get stronger later, in the recovery, after you put your body under strain and then give it what it needs to rebuild. Relationships grow the exact same way. So many people believe a strong relationship is one that never argues and never hits a hard week, so the first sign of tension makes them panic like something is broken. But the strain was never the problem. The couples who feel close and steady are not the ones who never bump into conflict. They are the ones who know how to recover together afterward. They come back. They repair. They talk about the hard moment instead of pretending it did not happen. That recovery is where the connection actually gets stronger, the same way rest is where the muscle gets built. If you and your partner had a rough moment this week, that moment is not evidence that you are failing. What matters is whether you come back to each other and repair it or let it quietly stack up. Repair is a skill, and you can learn it. My course Rupture to Repair walks you through exactly how to come back after conflict and turn the hard moments into the thing that makes you stronger.
