This sounds fun. I’m starting an experience bar business. The first one is a junk journal bar. Customers pick ephemera to create their journal pages. Maybe you can use some of this concept for your event. I offer magazine and book pages, stickers, greeting cards, cutouts - way too much to list. I thrift most of this stuff too.

In another video you mentioned making a business card with your name and contact and maybe some bullet points about what you're looking for. Maybe have people make those if they're not able to make a cup or box for notes? Then they can hand those out with their notes of compliments when they start handing them out to people? another idea, what if you had categories of hobbies (gaming, gardening, hiking, art, reading, etc.) at different tables that people could gather at where they write and decorate the notes or cards. So when they walk, they won't feel too alone or awkward by themselves but you also don't have to talk.

Wait, I love this! Name tags, sticker system, activities at each table, have everyone fill out pre-questionnaire form, keep their cups/baskets at a table away from everyone so notes can be written and left without being perceived, sheet/printed form could be left next to cups so people could even ignore interacting all together, leave a note, and then dip

My thoughts, a penny a piece, if I may offer? A while ago, people used to build and decorate Valentine's Day card holders out of shoeboxes. Then everyone would drop a card into other people's holder. Now, you could use smaller and make all sorts of different things out of them to hold cards (e.g. a robot,etc) before guests arrive. Make as many as you want and they can write their name on the one they receive. Now, instead of Valentine's Day cards, what if they were tarot-themed cards? That is my idea starter. Take as little or as much as you want and add your own flair to it.
