A power outage? So the plant didn’t have any valves or something to shut down manually so this wouldn’t happen? They need to launch and investigation into this

Ok so I guess no one went to school in these comments. NYC has an old sewer system. Once treatment plants fill up the rest of the water is sent into the rivers and other large bodies of water around NYC. Rain ends up mixing with sewage thanks to the old sewer system. Because there was just a storm the plants filled up more and had to release out a lot more sewage.
