@theneighborhoodtalk: TNHT Staff: @hausofaaron __________________ Neighbors, a parasitic infection is making its way around the country, leaving folks with a bad case of the runs. __________________ According to reports, cyclosporiasis, a gastrointestinal illness caused by a parasite that leads to “explosive” watery diarrhea, has sickened hundreds of people across the United States. __________________ Cases of the infection have been on the rise in multiple states since May. At least 20 people have been hospitalized. The CDC says it is working to identify potential sources of the infection, which is linked to fresh produce. __________________ Nationwide, at least 145 cases were reported in 17 states between May 1 and June 16, with New York reporting the highest number, followed by Illinois and Texas. But now, Michigan is the state everyone is talking about, as just last week health officials reported a “sudden and large” increase in cases. Since June 22, 2026, more than 170 cases have been reported in southeast Michigan alone, up from 150 just days prior. __________________ The CDC says numbers are still being tracked, noting that “the true number of people sick with cyclosporiasis was likely higher than the number reported.” 🎥: @wwltv
