I was charged for the use of a breast pump every time I pumped. My daughter was hospitalized on an emergency basis and I only had a diaper bag. Our stay was 10 days and I was charged for every time I used the pump. It costed me thousands.

As a nicu mom and a mom who has donated milk I get testing it and a small charge but the amount we were charged for the small amount we needed before my milk came in was CRAZY!!!

What do they charge for formula?! They’re charging 1400 for milk that’s donated imagine the formula that they had to pay for. This is insane.

They donate to a company, who has to screen them with detailed history and lab work, ship the milk, process and pasturize it, repackage it, and ship to hospital. Add employees/benefits, shipping costs, supplies, website maintenance, advertising, and etc. Yea. A mom gives the milk but its a LOT of work to make it safe for newborn babies.

It’s not free to the hospital. IBCLC here, we have to pay the milk bank for the milk.

Donor milk is in fact not free and you are charged for it even if it’s donated to the hospital. I was charged for it.
