One of the most humbling sights the living can witness is a deceased person wrapped in their shroud. Where is your money now? Where is your pride? Where is your status? Where are the titles, the businesses, the possessions, and the things you spent your life chasing? All of it has been left behind. You have been cut off from this world. The keys, the bank accounts, the social status, the arguments, the grudges, the praise of people—none of it enters the grave with you. The shroud has no pockets, and the grave does not distinguish between the rich and the poor, the famous and the unknown. As I stand over the deceased and help wrap them in their final garment, I am reminded that one day I too will be wrapped in the same simple cloth. Not in the clothes I chose, but in the shroud chosen for me by others. Not surrounded by my possessions, but by my deeds. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Three follow the deceased: his family, his wealth, and his deeds. Two return and one remains. His family and wealth return, and his deeds remain.” The shroud is a powerful reminder that this world was never our permanent home. We arrived with nothing, and we will leave with nothing except what we sent ahead in good deeds. Today you look at the shrouded body. One day, others will look at yours. So swallow your pride before the dirt swallows you, and prepare for the day when all that remains is your record with Allah. May Allah grant us all a good ending and the highest levels of Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen. #viral #TheMuslimUndertaker #fyp #death #uk
