@mysticfox515: Full Story: Over a week ago, I was house sitting for some people who often foster cats and kittens all the time. We had no idea that three kittens were fatally ill. Two of the three passed away. Originally, I thought it was perhaps fading kitten syndrome or some other underlying condition that maybe they were born with. But, due to resources and tests, we found out these kittens were ill with a nasty virus called panleukopenia. Panleukopenia is a very contagious virus that kittens can get which breaks down their white blood cells and attacks their immune system causing the kitten to become sick and even pass away at an alarming rate. While humans cannot get the virus, unfortunately it can cling to clothes. And before knowing what the virus was, I had accidentally exposed my little kitten to the virus. Upon learning about the virus, I had read about panleukopenia and it is mainly transferred through bodily fluids like using a shared litter box, or water and food dishes. I had no idea something like this could be on clothes. A week after her exposure, Calypso made a nose dive in her energy, eating, and overall health. I had hoped it was something else, but unfortunately my gut instinct was right and she was diagnosed with panleukopenia. And the cold hard truth is, many kittens do not survive. After taking her to the vet, we have gotten her fluids, antibiotics, anti nausea medication, and some high calorie liquids to help her battle this virus. But even that all is no guarantee she will pull through. The next couple of days are going to be critical. And if she doesn’t pull through, we may have to look into hospitalization. For that reason alone, I am asking, if anyone can spare anything to help her, I would be most grateful. I hate asking for help financially because we all are in our own troubles. But I do not want to have to surrender this sweet baby after growing so attached to her nor do I want to have to say goodbye forever.
