As an indian, you can call it henna or mehndi, i grew up calling it henna but its more common to call it mehndi

I agree but henna comes from the Arabic word for it since it’s hard to pronounce in English and bc it originated in swana(the “Middle East”) probably in Egypt or elsewhere in North Africa they aren’t 100% sure but they know it started in North Africa then other parts of Africa as well as through west Asia then into central and South Asia, so yes if a person is like getting it done say at a South Asian persons house or smth and the South Asian person is calling it mehndi and they still call it henna ok that’s kinda weird but it’s totally fine to call it henna, it’s not a western term it’s js what it’s called in the countries it originated in

People love to label traditional Indian clothes as Scandinavian. As a Scandinavian, it’s disrespectful to both cultures, especially when both Scandinavians and Indians have such beautiful, diverse and entirely separate cultures.
