@adivunsolicited: The World Cup puts colonization on live television every 4 years and people show how much they don’t know about history and identity of the Americas. Tekashi 6ix9ine looked at Ecuador's roster and said it plainly: "these are imported Africans, they aren't Ecuadorians." Thousands agreed with him. Nobody stopped to check the timeline. Black people have been on Ecuador's coast since 1553 building free, self-governing maroon settlements under Alonso de Illescas before Spain even had real control of the region, before "Ecuador" existed as a nation with a name or a flag. So when someone calls a Black Ecuadorian player "imported," they don't have an opinion. They have the history backwards by centuries. This is what every World Cup does whether anyone intends it to or not. It puts a hemisphere's worth of hidden history on a global stage and forces the question: why does this team look like this? And the answer is never mysterious once you actually ask it. Every nation from Canada to Argentina is a product of the same three pillars Indigenous depopulation, land theft, and the transatlantic slave trade. Some countries just sold themselves a harder myth about it. Mexico didn't count Afro-Mexicans on a census until 2015. Argentina insisted its Black population simply vanished. Ecuador's Black population never left colonization just wrote them out of the national photograph while standing on the land they helped build. Tekashi's comment section wasn't shocked by a roster. It was shocked by the myth finally cracking on camera. #Esmeraldas #latino #ecuador #BlackHistory #worldcup2026

Africa is not a fucking country, it’s a continent. And black is a skin tone NOT a nationality. People not understanding that is so willful ignorance.

As a proud Panamanian living in the United States, I want to sincerely thank everyone who takes the time to educate others about our history, culture, and heritage.
Many people simply haven’t had the opportunity to learn about Panama beyond the Canal, but our nation is rich with resilience, diversity, and contributions that have shaped the world. Education creates understanding, and understanding builds respect.
Thank you to those who choose to share knowledge, celebrate our culture, and help others appreciate the history and identity of the Panamanian people. Our stories deserve to be told, remembered, and honored.
🇵🇦 Orgullosamente Panameño. Always proud of where I come from.

If only the games happened during the school year. This is the perfect way to connect modern topics to the history of imperialism and the age of European exploration. Maybe, just maybe my students are putting some of those dots together.

Can you make this video in Spanish or collaborate with someone who can have this conversation with you in Spanish? I would love to send this to my family but I fear the language barrier is going to be an issue
