Lamb and veal are both under 12 months old. Veal is typically 4-6 months, lamb is typically 6 to 12 months. Broiler chickens (meat chickens) are 5-7 weeks

So veal is a younger age than lamb. I can't remember the ages but I believe veal is 1 year and under and lamb is 1-2 years.

I mean, "baby" is a growth stage, just because chickens are younger doesn't mean they're not in the adult stage of their lifes. It's still annoying to have someone bring it up constantly, I'd probably just start saying "really? I didn't know!" sarcastically

The turkey you eat at Thanksgiving is always around 10 months old.

Lambs are more teenaged. They are weaned at a normal time and reaching maturity just not full grown. It’s not like a newborn fresh baby

People direct their focus to the wrong places and generalise too much in terms of animal welfare imo. I only eat meat, eggs, etc, from places I know treat the animals well, feed them organic food, etc. Much of this comes from literally next door to me, I SEE the animals I eat from birth to slaughter - sometimes I even name them! I’m British country born and raised, so I have no problem with this though I realise some people apparently do but I get a great sense of comfort knowing the food I eat has lived a sustainable and organic life! It’s my personal goal to have my own source of chicken meat and eggs at home so I know where it’s come from. The things that go on in factory farms are not only disgusting, they’re flat out horrific - words cannot describe how awful they are, and the conditions (ntm the hormones pumped into these animals, etc… a comment ain’t enough) are reflected in how the eventual meat sold to consumers from these animals is just flat out worse for your health!
