On 29 November 2024, six-year-old Isaac Kearney, who was born with the rare genetic condition Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, was surprised at school by Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Isaac had become a fan favorite after videos of him joyfully singing Liverpool chants while playing a toy guitar captured hearts online. The surprises didn’t end there. Salah and Van Dijk later welcomed Isaac and his family to Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre, where he met several first-team players and spent time with head coach Arne Slot. Then came the biggest surprise of all. Isaac was told he had been chosen as an official mascot for Liverpool’s Premier League match against Manchester City at Anfield. He proudly walked onto the pitch alongside Virgil van Dijk before Liverpool’s 2–0 victory, creating a memory that he and his family will never forget. Liverpool FC organized the surprise as part of its activities for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and the club shared Isaac’s story on Christmas Day 2024.
