@deonnahodges: researchers had 5 AI models rewrite 10,000 human short stories. a detector caught the AI ones 93% of the time without reading a single sentence… just the shape of the plot. 3 tells: -it over-explains the moral -everything resolves too neatly -and every emotion is a body part. paper → arxiv.org/abs/2604.03136 code + data → github.com/jenna-russell/storyscope you can humanize the words. you can’t humanize the structure.
I’ll use em dashes and semi colons until I die; no machine will ever pry punctuation from my pen.

Oh no. As an MFA creative writing professor, we train writers to not say “sad” and move on, but to describe the sadness instead of just telling the reader.

Um, I write fiction and TELLING a reader the character is “sad” is lazy writing. I spend so much time trying to “show not tell” and apparently now I’m a computer???

ai tool use to detect ai tool use is pointless. Yes ai was used, you used it to detect ai. That in itself negates any chain of evidence where ai was not involved. Its all artificial am i right? 🤣🤣

this sounds like a prompt issue, not to mention it doesn’t work for scientific stuff…

Just manually type the question into the chat & rewrite the answers in your own words... That's how we used to do it back in the days with library books & Google.

these detectors constantly flag false positives. using and paying for ai to not support ai is ridiculous

AI has a fingerprint that it learned from good human writing. Go figure

what does this look like for technical writing? I would guess it's much harder to pick them out in technical writing

How do you know this AI format isn’t better at communicating than the human format. People constantly hallucinate and misunderstand in shared psychoses where what most people call facts are merely inter-subjective truth.

idk I feel like it's kinda flawed because what I use AI for usually is if I'm trying to seem professional but I'm in a rush, I will type it in chat gpt and tell it to make it look professional for me so it's still my words just grammar is correct etc when in a hurry and I don't have the time to babysit how I'm talking

So you don’t trust people not to use AI because it’s bad so you decided to use AI which is bad to detect if people used AI which is bad. Okay…

"every feeling is a body part" wow so my writing style of demonstrating emotion phenomenologically because i write 3rd person limited, is now an ai fingerprint. i study imagist poetry btw
