@pinaycowgirl: Initially, I planned to start slow weaning at 6 months with daily 1-hour separations where mom and colt can still see, hear, and touch but no nursing. I decided to start earlier to help guide his bold nature while he’s still young and impressionable. I also believe changing routines helps stimulate their mind and learning. For the first time, Curltavius is now pastured with his dad. It’s a new herd dynamic and hierarchy. Even after a short time, I can already see a change in his behavior, more respectful, more responsive, and less pushy in my space.
