Certified Chimney inspector here, You’re gonna want a gap between the clay flues, and the inside face of the bricks. Especially in northern states. Thank me later. Work looks great tho!

Good work 👍🏻 You should def invest in a canopy or big umbrella that you can setup over the chimney. Makes your life so much easier and better for the mortar so it doesn’t setup so fast.

where is the heat resistant refractory you you're supposed to use on chimneys I didn't hear his talk about that I usually use a horse hair brush on my joint work for brick work and a standard brush for block work and the standard brush for stone work too and I usually use a type n mortar for brick work and type s for block work

Great looking work. Pro tip, keep the bricks your going to lay wet. Just pour some water on them before you lay them. It will give you more working time and easier to level and plumb. Great job!!🤙

Try adding ivory soap it's a old trick to keep mortar from settling fast used it every summer on hot days and mud did not set even on clay brick

I was wondering where states are in I'm from New Jersey and up there. Where it was used type N but I moved to North Carolina about 30 years ago and down here. Everybody used type, S it's hard to find type. N.
