I worked in Hematology and Coag back in the mid 70s and the only counter on the market was the Coulter counter. It worked on the theory of volumetric displacement as the cell passed through an aperture. The Coulter Senior did cell counts, H&H and indices. Seems archaic compared to today’s equipment.
