@terry.lashley: 1. Peace is more valuable than being right. The day I stopped trying to win the divorce was the day I started rebuilding my life. The tighter you hold on to “side” Of the experience, the harder it will be to move forward. 2. My kids don’t need a perfect dad, they needed one that was emotionally regulated. The greatest gift I gave my daughters wasnt money or things. It’s showing them what emotional stability looks like. 3. Healing isn’t just moving on it’s changing the patterns that got you there. Eventually, you stop blaming everything on the other person and start asking your self “why and how did I chose that experience. 4. Being alone and being lonely are not the same thing. Loneliness can tempt you to lower your standards. Solitude can raise them. You have to know this because spending time alone is critical. 5. Your identity has to be bigger than your relationship status. Divorce didn’t just end my marriage. It forced me to answer a question I’d avoided: ‘Who am I when no one is choosing me?’ Last but not least, don’t expect your healing to have a time period. Six months to a year just isn’t how life works. This journey home has allowed me to heal spaces that remained stuck while I was still in vegas.
