Kallen Stadtfeld (also known as Kallen Kozuki) is one of the most fierce, loyal, and physically formidable characters in Code Geass. Born to a Britannian nobleman father and a Japanese mother, she possesses dual identity and citizenship. However, deeply disgusted by the brutal oppression of the Japanese people by the Holy Britannian Empire, she fiercely rejects her noble privilege. Instead, she chooses to embrace her Japanese heritage, adopting her mother's surname, Kozuki. Motivated by the memory of her late brother Naoto, who led a resistance cell before his death, Kallen leads a double life: she acts as a fragile, sickly student at the elite Ashford Academy while secretly fighting as a passionate, frontline freedom fighter in the underground resistance. In combat, Kallen is an absolute force of nature and the undisputed ace pilot of the Order of the Black Knights. Her unrivaled piloting instincts and iron will allow her to master the Guren Mk-II and its later, cutting-edge upgrades like the Guren S.E.I.T.E.N. Eight Elements. Armed with the Guren's devastating radiant wave surrogate claw, she becomes the only pilot capable of consistently matching—and eventually overpowering—Suzaku Kururugi and his Lancelot in single combat. Unlike Lelouch, who commands from the shadows with cold strategy, Kallen fights directly in the trenches. Her philosophy is driven by raw passion, an unyielding desire for justice, and a deep emotional connection to the plight of the oppressed Japanese people. Kallen’s emotional trajectory is heavily defined by her complex, evolving relationship with Zero. Initially a skeptical cell member, she becomes Zero's most fiercely loyal enforcer and personal bodyguard, deeply inspired by his revolutionary vision. However, her world is shattered when she discovers that the heroic savior "Zero" is actually her arrogant, cynical schoolmate, Lelouch Lamperouge. This revelation leaves her profoundly torn between her deep affection for Lelouch and her anger at his manipulative lies. During the climax of the Zero Requiem, she realizes that Lelouch has cast himself as a global tyrant. Unaware of the selfless hidden plot, Kallen takes on the burden of representing the world's resistance, defeating Suzaku in a final, cataclysmic duel.
