After watching your series, it changed my mindset on how options work and the risks/ tradeoffs involved that there’s no free lunch. Options is not renting out shares like real estate since real estate appreciates but when selling options, caps the upside. (Both with calls or puts) However, I think the personal finances are ‘personal’ so each situation is unique depending on the goal whether to capture maximum long term appreciation or trade that for cash flow instead. I’m creating an options curriculum to help educate aspiring entrepreneurs who want to leave corporate but want to soft land financially by using their portfolio to generate some income the right way during their transition and extending their financial runway / giving them the confidence to take that leap. That said, I’ve listened to traditional wheel course sellers who advocate for .7 delta/ who sell stock signals which I now realize is akin to going to the casino and I’ve personally gotten burned and now wary of. Kudos to you for taking the time to offer fresh perspectives.

I don’t understand capital distribution from my own future returns. Can you explain how that works please?

I’ve been selling options for the past 6 months CC and CSP since 1-5-2026 and I have 62K more in my account then when I started so I don’t know what to call it if that’ll is not income then what is it? Capital gains it’s still an income is it not?

I agree. I almost always buy them back for a profit. Rarely have I been assigned and if I do it’s at a much lower price I’m comfortable owning the stock at.

Covered calls "rent" future potential underlying price appreciation. If implied volatility exceeds realized volatility, and it usually does, then the short position wins. Usually the real issue is whipsawing: the underlying falls in price and the short option is rolled. Then the loss is locked in since the upside was sold off.

I don’t agree or disagree, I’ve sold covered calls plenty of times and continue to do it. There are times where I’ve gotten burned and other times where I’ve made money on the down turn against my core position. If the technicals show change in trend and you sell covered calls to take advantage of that, what do you call it if not income? Reducing your cost basis?
