@thesmilofoundation: One of the questions I get asked most is: “What happens next?” “When is your next cancer treatment?” Right now, I’m not receiving any treatment. In February, I received a one-time T-cell infusion. Since then, I’ve been off treatment. My scans have continued to improve, my tumors have continued to shrink, and my latest Signatera test came back negative. Because TCR is experimental, my doctors are taking things one step at a time. There isn’t a roadmap. In many ways, we’re in uncharted territory. When I received the treatment, we were told the hope was that these engineered T-cells would recognize my cancer, destroy it, and develop into long-lasting memory cells that will continue protecting me in the future. Whether that will happen or not, we don’t know yet. What we did know quickly was that something was happening. Before treatment, I had a visible tumor on my chest. We checked it every day. 3 days after my T-cell infusion, it completely disappeared. That was our first indication that the treatment might be working and it was working much faster than we imagined.
