Got to learn what a Katz extractor was on my youngest with a cooked bow tie noodle up his nose. That was a fun trip to the ED, during Covid. Thankfully we didn’t make it past triage, the PA came out and did it right there in the waiting room. 🙌🏻

Any tips for getting things out of ears? We see a lot of beads in ears at my ER. We are a small, rural hospital, so we always have to transfer patients to a hospital with ENT services.

We used Katz extractors but much cheaper!!

We've had one of our attendings (I also work PEDS er!) that created a little loop out of those cotton tipped applicators with aluminum flexible end for the times we don't have our Katz extractors available. Also works with a charm haha

20 years as an ER nurse, never seen that. Unfortunately I work in a small rural ER and we don’t have catheters that small. 😩😩😩
