I was gonna say there are simpler PLC than that, but honestly it shouldn’t even be a PLC. Something like a smart relay (like the Zelio serie from Schneider) would be enough.

that's actually bonkers. someone clearly started to replace the old PLC, realized after buying a cabinet it didn't do anything anymore and they just get to have spare IO now.

I always taught my A&P students to check the breakers first followed by switches to the O/N position. You would be surprised how many calls from pilots were simply a breaker reset or a switch in the O-F-F posit.
