It’s Sunday morning, July 12th, 2026, and last night, the news went out that Senator Lindsay Graham is dead. He spent his career undermining peace on earth, actively sabotaging liberty and justice for all, and facilitating the rise of right-wing christian nationalism and white supremacy in the United States. Not to mention pathologically conflating the Christian faith with support for a genocidal foreign state. I will not pretend otherwise. Someone has asked for me to extend my condolences to his family. I am sure they have plenty of friends, supporters, & loved ones doing so. Adding mine would be superfluous, not to mention dishonest on my part. What I do, today, is extend my empathy, witness, commitment to justice, and solidarity to everyone who was ever harmed by Lindsay Graham over the course of his career. That is a minimum of 60 million people made homeless and at least 5 million murdered overseas, - tens of thousands of American servicemembers injured, killed, and traumatized in wars he supported for his political gain, and - hundreds of millions of Americans who have had to endure a toxic, dehumanizing, & divisive national atmosphere because of rhetoric he amplified. My voice belongs with the people. Just yesterday, I published a piece counting 21 Members of Congress who have died in office in the past 10 years. Now it is 22 — and if the reporting I’ve seen is correct, Senator McConnell is either dead or comatose, so we may reach 23 before the week is out. I’m running for office to join my voice to the more than 90% of Americans who KNOW that we need: - Term limits. - Big money out of politics. - Mandatory retirement. - And truly democratic reform, that uplifts the voice of the people while protecting the rights of all.
