She continues to be affectionate and engaging with people outside of her kennel, eagerly seeking attention and inviting play by bringing toys to handlers. Although moving her to a different kennel location helped reduce some of her stress, she continues to show reactivity toward other dogs in the kennel environment and urgently needs placement where she can continue to decompress. UPDATE 5/14/26: Maggie has made significant improvements after moving to the new shelter facility and her deadline has been lifted. UPDATE 4/27/26: Maggie has been given a deadline of 5:00 pm, 5/3/26. BIO: Maggie is seeking rescue placement due to escalating behavioral concerns in the shelter environment. While she presents as social and affiliative with handlers, she has shown repeated reactivity in the kennel aisle, including lunging at other dogs through barriers and redirecting onto a handler’s clothing during movement through the kennel. An additional incident involved stiffening, a hard stare, and growling over a toy when approached, though this behavior was not reproduced during a formal guarding assessment. These patterns suggest increasing kennel-related stress that is impacting her ability to be safely managed in a high-traffic environment. In structured interactions outside of the kennel, Maggie has demonstrated loose body language, responsiveness to handling, and the ability to disengage from other dogs with minimal prompting. She has also shown appropriate behavior during dog-to-dog introductions and handling exercises, including tolerance of physical interaction while eating and playing.
