honestly even if you randomly decide you want to become a surgeon when you're 45, you can still do that. You might have to do a Tafe course or something to meet the entry requirements, but you could still do it.

I feel like America doesn’t have as many pathway programs. Australia has a lot more education opportunities

School isn’t for everyone in Aus, it’s the option if you wanted to go into further education such as uni, but you can still go to uni after 21 without an atar x

there's no need to try grow up too fast, enjoy it while you can. high school/college can be some of the best years of your life as a teenager

You’re right. I believe every young person needs to make quality education a high priority in their life, but that quality education does not need to be traditional schooling if that pathway causes more harm than good

school is not for everyone these days on aus, some thrive and some dont and thats ok. my son took it upon himswlf to ask his year advisor for additional support as he was thinking about doing year 11 and 12 and they flat out said no, they told him he needed a diagnosis in order to provide the support.
I can also confirm that not once has my school achievements been used as a reference to work.

It doesn't help that when you're IN school the teachers make you feel as if school is the only option and at that point in your life literally all you know is school from age to 4-16 (avg yr10 age)

i think alot of people forget to, even if you drop out there are still many ways to get into any higher education pathway if you decide later thats what you want to do.

High School used to finish at yr9. Each yr after has been added on mostly as extensions to wat has already been taught to cater for pathways like going to uni or certain jobs (thats why workplace learning normally starts in yr 10 for those going into trades)
