@davesengines: Flat rate! Does it work? Here’s a prime example of how it can be a bad thing if you don’t capture the time for your expertise and hard efforts #autoshop #enginebuild #enginerepair #engineshop
you just dont work for dealerships. go become a heavy equipment or semi mechanic for a fleet and get paid hourly. especially here in the rust belt because nothing comes apart like they tell you it should.

well said. a good service advisor will always make sure to get the tech the time required. Some younger less experienced writers are afraid to get that extra time from the customer.

I still find this scenario a load of bullshit.ALL LABOR TIMES MUST BE AGREEABLE WITH THE TECHNICIAN.INCIDENTALS AND WEIRD STUFF I DON'T CARE WHAT THE CUSTOMER DECIDES TO PAY.YOU CANNOT SAY THAT I ONLY GET PAID IF THE CUSTOMER DECIDES TO PAY.IF NOBODY IS PAYING THEN I DON'T HAVE TO DO IT AND I AM ONLY OBLIGATED TO COME WITHIN 10% OVER ON MY BID BY LAW.100% A PROTECTED ACTIVITY IN ALL 50 STATES FOR FLAT-RATE TECHNICIANS TO DISPUTE,DISAGREE WITH,REFUSE OR NEGOTIATE ANY LABOR TIMES.ULTIMATY THOSE LABOR TIMES ARE ONLY WHAT I AGREE TO BY LAW.YOU CAN DECLINE MY BIDS OR HAVE A FUCKING HOURLY DO IT BUT YOU CANNOT DICTATE MY LABOR TIMES.NOBODY IN THAT BUSINESS SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND THAT VERY SIMPLE CONCEPT ANYMORE!
