So, what makes the cycles thing hard to understand? Because the first cycles thing is just the whole “the demigods of today are the titans of tomorrow” thing, and the Phainon loops are literally just a really elongated groundhog day. It’s that simple.

I feel like the problems from phainons story isnt really the writers fault, its more so because hes in a gacha game, every patch is supposed to market the new characters to make you wanna pull and that makes it so most characters have 2ish patches to tell their whole story. I really like phainon and majority of the amphoreus cast compared to other hsr planets, but most hsr characters would be a lot better written if they weren’t just there to market themselves as a unit

the only thing that bothers me is the lack of acknowledgement of phainon to the Smolrene and Bigrene shit, like they literally both started the loop and in the end phainon literally allow us to have 'private conversation' instead of him asking where his childhood friend goes, cause its literally not the deus ex machina in a wedding dress

the deja vu remark is simply impossible to do due to the fact that there are gonna be two Phainons in each cycles 1st one is Khaslana and the 2nd one is the Phainon of the current cycle. and the Phainon of the current cycle kills Khaslana to inherit the memories and the coreflames to become the new khaslana of the next cycle

I also wish they explored on the psychological aspect of him too. 33 million cycles of killing your loved ones and barely any mental change to show. There were times, but it was dismissed quickly which made me a little upset. I understand perseverance and determination is apart of his character but they were obviously programmed to feel emotion. The whole thing made me feel a little more detached from his lore

Clothes, sword, fighting style, backstory, aren't those enough hints? also why the fuck would he remember something that he didn't go through? You're talking about Phainon NOT Khaslana. Death and Birth has many forms in Hoyo games and memories are the most interesting one. If person loses their memories its a form of death, if person gains memories (depending of the situation) its a from of birth. Cyrene and Demiurge, March 7th and Evernight, and of course Phainon and Khaslana. These characters proves that the memories are in itself is a soul. So most of your points are pointed towards literally different character than you think it is.

I don't thimk Deja Vu would work since each Phainon in every cycle is a completely brand new copy.It would'nt make any sense.And I'm pretty sure the cycles are foreshadowed with the Scapegoat puzzle.

I think only seeing Phainon from other characters pov was kind of the point lowkey. Like idk if I’m going to explain this well, but he was always meant to be the “golden boy” and so he just did what people expected him to do. And once it’s revealed that he’s gone through so many cycles, it would make sense he would start to lose parts of himself until there’s essentially not a lot of his original self left. Wether that’s subconscious behavior or not, seeing him bounce off the characters around him, not only grounded the other characters to reality, but also built an understanding as to why he is the one who has to save them. I hope that made sense 💔

Hi I personally disagree with this take but I do agree with some of your points, mainly the fact that taking his place in the Flame Chase journey was kinda...eh. I hated that we had to become the Deliverer. Also when the Deja vu thing was mentioned I highkey had to pause for a second cus like why didn’t they do that😭😭 Fire take tho, keep yapping twin !!

One thing I REALLY wish was shown instead of mentioned like once, is the pressure on him to be the perfect heir, to always do the right thing etc etc. like. With the amount of times aglaea mentioned this, ofc he would feel like he NEEDS to fit into that label 😭😭

There would be no deja vu because he doesn't carry those memories as Phainon. Flame reaver does and the pahinon of this cycle becomes the reaver of the next, that's where all the deja vu happens.
