The fight for liberation is being replaced by consumerism and corporations pushing various gadgets onto us. This is glaringly obvious with brands that claim to be pro-LGBT while simultaneously firing people just for loving someone of the same sex. Pride parades, which were once sites of resistance, have turned into massive parties. We have nothing to celebrate—quite the contrary. The cruelty of our reality is clear when looking at queer youth thrown out onto the streets by homophobic parents. They suffer from the housing crisis far more often than the average person who does not find themselves in such a desperate situation. We must fight to improve our well-being and secure a safe, good life for ourselves.
