this is the prequel scene to the original start of the movie. In the original, the Async employee is running away from a monster (captain Clark). This added scene shows you how they got to be attacked and what they were exploring. How is captain Clark in the backrooms if real Clark has not been in there yet? 1) time does not flow the way it normally does outside the backrooms 2) the store. and some of the stuff in the store are already being cloned (like the signs) without someone taking them in into the backrooms, so that indicates that the furniture store is already being affected and copied even before real Clark discovers the entrance

this is probably the before footage of the the guy we saw at the beginning of the movie, the guy who was lost and this extra 15 was probably was trimmed out. This is only a theory tho but usually movies cut out footage to cut down run time. idk pls fact check me

I feel some people are confused on the fact that you don’t need to go to the backrooms to form a still life of yourself or different stuff like that since it literally takes stuff from the real world like the signs and stuff
