"Always a lie" is a little strong, but over the last few years my faith has been shaken and rather than try and convince myself otherwise, I've leaned into it. I'm still relatively observant in my faith but I do it by choice rather than as an obligation or out of fear of divine retribution.

Not really, because I don’t practice stuff without understanding the purpose and if the practice is good for me or others then I’m satisfied with the life that I lived

So I asked my older sister this question when I was 13 and she told me “I would rather live my life with peace and hope than doubt and fear” and completely changed my perspective. Nothing’s guaranteed, and everyone deserve the happiness of a better tomorrow, even in death. We can only live our lives to our values and as long as we’re not causing harm to others for their beliefs I say it shows me that I have hope, and that I have a future. Some people are wrapped up in others not going along the same journey and while it’s hard to let that go, it’s important to remember that your higher power makes the ultimate judgment, not you, so just be friendly and do your best to live a just clean life cause we all only have one to live with :)

I remember when I told my mom I didn’t believe in God anymore, it was in the parking lot of Applebees and I was like 16 and it was the most freeing day of my life 😭 she eventually got over it…I didn’t bother to try to convince myself because I realized it doesn’t benefit me, and I was only pretending because of family. It’s okay to question things, it shows you’re a smart person. If they can’t answer your questions, it’s a sign it’s not for you

I'm atheist but live in a very religious area with predominantly religious family and friends. so many ppl tell me we were meant to meet as a sign to bring me to God and I sometimes wonder until I realize I'm literally surrounded by religious ppl. it's not a sign, it's a numbers game. i was asked how wil I respond if it turns out I'm wrong. I said, "I'd rather be a good person on my own and do good. than to do good because I seek the promise of perfection, an eternity, or redemption.

Older Christian and gay. Do I question? Yes! Do I take the "text" literally? No and I believe it an impossibility to do so. However, I do believe there is a greater good at work. I have too many life moments that could simply be luck or coincidence, I choose to hold a wider perspective. No regrets, no condemnation..

I am a gay Muslim and have recently become more engaged with my Islamic faith. As I get older, I realised that we have been lied to by Western societies that we are "born gay". I feel that in Western society, through music, television, social media, and other influences, strongly shapes how people understand freedom and identity. This idea of freedom is often linked to consumption and material goals, which the beauty and lifestyle industries profit from. Without encouraging belief in personal freedoms, they would not be able to profit from it.. From this perspective, I believe sexual orientation and identity is influenced by environment and life experiences, including trauma for many individuals, not by "being born gay".
