@natalie.pierce22: Confidence never shows up as a feeling you sit around waiting for. It builds like residue, slowly, every time you get through something alone with no one there to catch you. Start with these:   1. Eat at a restaurant alone, with no phone to hide behind. 2. Sit through a whole movie by yourself. 3. Spend an hour in a café just watching people, doing nothing. 4. Travel to a new city solo. 5. Walk into a class or event where you know absolutely no one. 6. Spend an entire day without texting or calling a single person. 7. Write down your biggest fear, then do one small thing that faces it directly. 8. Sit in ten minutes of real silence — no music, no scroll, no input at all. 9. Say the unpopular opinion out loud in a room, then survive the pause. 10. Ask for the discount, the upgrade, the favour — and let the 'no' bounce off. 11. Take yourself on an actual date you'd be proud to be taken on. 12. Leave the party the moment you want to, not when it's socially correct. 13. Post the thing without deleting it twenty minutes later. 14. Sit with a hard feeling for five minutes instead of reaching for your phone. 15. Change your mind in public, out loud, without apologizing for having grown.   Every one of these does the same quiet thing: it removes the audience. And the moment no one's watching, you find out who you actually are without the applause propping you up.   There are roughly another fifteen in the same spirit — but you already see the shape of it. The point was never to learn to enjoy being alone. It's that each time you get through one of these, you need everyone else's approval a little less.
