Before you trust someone online, pay attention to these red flags: 🚩 They contact you first through a DM. 🚩 They quickly tell you how special you are or try to build an emotional connection. 🚩 They want to move the conversation off the platform or keep it private. 🚩 They claim they can’t video chat or always have an excuse. 🚩 They ask for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, or financial “help.” 🚩 They tell you to keep your relationship a secret. 🚩 They create fake emergencies that require money immediately. 🚩 Their username is slightly different from the real account (extra letters, numbers, underscores, or misspellings). 🚩 They have very few followers, very little engagement, or a recently created account. 🚩 They aren’t verified—even though the real creator is—or they claim verification “doesn’t matter.” 🚩 Their photos and videos are stolen from the real creator’s page. 🚩 They refuse to communicate through official business channels. Here’s what you should ALWAYS do: ✅ Compare the username letter by letter. ✅ Check follower count and engagement. ✅ Look for the verification badge if the real account has one. ✅ See how long the account has existed. ✅ Compare their content with the creator’s official page. ✅ Never send money to someone you’ve only met online. ✅ If something feels off, trust your instincts and verify before believing.
