The studio needs to develop a relationship with some dependable composers with consistent quality. Not hiring a composer until 3 months before it was released is crazy.

At what point do we abandon the James Gunn universe??? Soon I hope. He's casting look-alike actors for the characters. Focusing on side characters and animated series. DC is never going to be Marvel. He can't recreate Guardians. At this point just give us amazing standalone movies with characters we care about! I need Batman. Wonder Woman. Joker. Catwoman.

My biggest issue is this is a Supergirl movie that tells us nothing about Supergirl. Her dad sent her away to what, survive? Why is she so put off by Clark & Earth? Why is she so set against Ruthie's vengeance when that's not her story? Like I can see the themes & story they were trying to tell, but there isn't enough to support it

Let’s be clear, they derailed this project with choosing that director AND scriptwriter with NO EXPERIENCE in Superhero/Big action movies. Of course they try to salvage the mess, but it was all too late. And it’s all a shame cause the casting was solid, probably thanks to Gunn.

The whole point Gunn keeps making is that he won’t green light a script until it’s done. Did he really think this was done? He also keeps criticizing marvel for working on the movie plot all through production and even post production and they did the exact same thing here

I'm not a die-hard James Gunn fan but this seems like something the studio probably had more of a hand in than him. As much power as Gunn has, he ultimately has his own masters who control the money, and there's a lot riding on the rebooted DCU not being a disaster. At the end of the day, studio bosses gonna studio boss.

it sounds like the film is practically the same, and there was no real way to save it no matter what. considering that, he should've kept with Gillespies cut no matter what. the true vision will always be better than the studios "oh my God we screwed up with picking this director, quick hurry and try to fix it" version. it's just not a good look for Gunn here.

again it was an okay movie. but imo, those 11 minutes or whatever woukdnt have made any difference. the general core of the film just wasnt good.

I once made a movie where we removed the director from the editing room for three weeks and let the writer do his cut. That cut scored 20 points higher across the board. Let’s just say the director was no longer involved going forward, and the movie made over $200m worldwide on a $45m budget.
