The lore runs deep. Hilary Duff has been my number one pop diva since I saw the music video for I Can’t Wait on Disney Channel in 2002. I got the Santa Claus Lane CD for Christmas and it has been in my holiday rotation ever since, and really kickstarted my CD collection and love of music. After becoming obsessed with Metamorphasis and Self Titled and officially dubbing Hilary my favorite singer, I made my parents drive me to FYE on release day to buy the Most Wanted and Dignity CDs day one. I used to listen to those CDs literally every night, because I love a streak and I had to reiterate to myself why they were my favorite albums daily. My first memories of using YouTube were at my Aunt’s house to watch the Play With Fire music video, and I would excitedly check Wikipedia for an update on new projects. During the 7 year music hiatus that followed, I was there to support every indie movie, every book, and every breadcrumb of music like Any Other Day or even her guest song on Dora the Explorer. Then came Breathe In Breathe Out, an era that meant so much to me after waiting so long. The internet jokes about how we never should have let this album flop, but I view it as such a huge success. This was the first time we got to hear adult Hilary share her world with us, as I was in college entering adulthood myself. My biggest CD collecting achievement was getting the exclusive Japanese deluxe edition for the full 17 tracks. I could not have been happier to have her back in the pop game, but that era was short lived. Songs like Never Let You Go and 9 to 5 were a pleasant surprise in the meantime, as the waiting continued. Now been another decade of waiting since that era, here we are with a triumphant and long awaited return to music in the year 2025. I was following along with every small teaser or hint that new music was coming, and watching fans like me overjoyed to learn it wasn’t just a rumor, but she’s really back. Mature is the perfect single to connect with her fans entering their thirties, their new life experiences, and to share her own growth as an artist with a nod to her younger self. We’ve all been through our own metamorphosis along the way. I remember the day in 5th grade when everyone showed up to school in Hilary Duff t-shirts and I was so heartbroken that I didn’t know about the tour until it was too late. I never got the chance to see her on tour after that. Now, as an adult, hearing her confirm she’s going to tour is very literally what my dreams are made of - to see my favorite artist perform live for the first time! Gay people usually have a pop diva they ride for, like Beyoncé or Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift. Mine has always been Hilary, and it’s taken a lot of patience and anticipation between projects, and I’ve been there every step of the way which makes this return so much more rewarding. Anyway, that’s my backstory on why this release means so very much to me. I’ll end this by saying….STREAM MATURE BY HILARY DUFF!! And welcome back queen!!! 🥹🫶🦋 @Hilary Duff HQ @hilaryduff #hilaryduff #teamduff #metamorphosis #mature
