💨 Is it normal to have a cough for six weeks, doctor? Cough is a very common symptom, but if it’s persistent (more 3 weeks), it needs to be investigated. There are so many causes but lung cancer needs to be excluded! Cause include: •	Post viral inflammation - hyperactive airways •	Asthma (including cough-variant asthma) •	Post-nasal drip / upper airway cough syndrome •	Gastro-oesophageal reflux (GORD) •	Chronic bronchitis or COPD •	Bronchiectasis •	ACE inhibitor medication (used for blood pressure) •	Pertussis (whooping cough) •	Interstitial lung disease •	Lung cancer (especially if persistent, new, or unexplained) •	Heart failure (can cause a wet or “frothy” cough) ⚠️ Lung cancer is the UK’s biggest cancer killer, taking more lives than breast, bowel, and prostate cancer combined. Lung cancer often goes unnoticed until it’s advanced, but when caught early, survival is so much better. Here’s what to look out for 👇 🔹 A cough lasting longer than 3 weeks 🔹 A cough that changes or sounds different 🔹 Chest or shoulder pain 🔹 Breathlessness 🔹 Unexplained tiredness or weight loss 🔹 Coughing up blood 🔹 Repeated chest infections 📊 Around 55% of people diagnosed at Stage 1 live for 5 years or more — compared with only 3% at Stage 4. And yet, most cases are diagnosed too late. Most coughs aren’t cancer, but if yours lingers, get it checked. Because awareness, curiosity, and a GP visit can save lives. 💙 Let’s change the conversation , let’s raise awareness, let’s share the knowledge 🙌 Questions, comments and thoughts ⬇️ #LungCancerAwarenessMonth #LungCancer #KnowTheSigns #Coughing #cough
