They went on to preform their most successful show in Moscow in 1986 as part of a U.S.–Soviet cultural exchange. The children in Russia loved it. So they eventually made it to broadway on Oct 16th (MY BIRTHDAY) 1986. The show was a hit in the USSR because the children there were more desensitized and familiar on the topic of loss. But had faced ongoing controversy and criticism in the US dure to its darker theme and topics of death. It was said to be “too dark for children” and It was eventually cancelled.
