@hazelsheroeshomebase: Hazel was diagnosed with severe Interstitial Lung Disease at 6mo after discovering her oxygen levels dropped dangerously low when sleeping & a bronchoscopy showed tons of inflammation & fluid in her lungs. It was devastating: they told us there was no cure, she'd be on oxygen for years if not lifelong, & weren't confident that she'd live with how intense her condition was. We refused to accept that. We prayed, we fought, & we believed that there was something else going on. After more trials, they discovered that most of her feeds were going into her lungs instead of her stomach (aspiration) which turned into a chronic bout of pneumonia. They changed her diagnosis to Chronic Respiratory Failure due to Severe Aspiration, & she finally started to heal after getting a feeding tube. She still has a long road ahead of her as we found the cause of her swallowing disorder was from a stroke she had in-utero which also caused other delays. We are SO grateful for the care team who worked tirelessly to figure out what was going on with our dear Hazel, & for all of Hazels Heroes who've supported us through this journey while we Help Hazel Heal. ❤️
