@studio_julia_rose: What do you think? What version of liminal space do you prefer? On the bright side I really love the idea of these cats having a pet entity. And the entity does not like humans under any circumstances, but loves the cats. And the cats are just chilling. I think I might explore this idea more just cause it’s fun and cute! I love mixing cute ideas in spooky formats! Let me know what you think! Do you think this cat liminal space print turned out good? #b#backrooml#liminalspacesd#dreamcoreh#horrorarta#artprints
The loneliness itself can be a monster, so I like your idea

i want the entity to BE the backrooms. the backrooms is alive breathing, ever changing to try and lull you into a false sense of safety and security or convince you that you are in the real world until you lose your sanity regardless

Humans are an easily paranoid species even without an entity, a humans own mind would likely end up creating the feeling of something being there with them.

A monster isn’t needed for a place to be unsettling

I’m pretty sure the original idea of the backrooms was that you WERE alone, no entities or friends, just you

The original Backrooms idea wasn’t really about monsters at all. It started with that 4chan image of the endless yellow office space and the horror came from the implication of being stuck somewhere familiar-but-wrong, with no clear exit and reality feeling slightly off. Entities were hinted at, but they weren’t the core of the original concept. A lot of the fear came from isolation, repetition, and the idea that the space itself was the threat. So it makes sense someone would find it scarier without monsters—the liminal, endless ‘wrongness’ is kind of the point. Expansion of the idea usually came more in adding different layers with differing themes, and then came the monsters to fill it out, because people get bored of conceptual horror in the long term.

the ENTIRE appeal of the original concept was just the idea of wandering about endlessly, trapped in this labyrinth that almost makes sense. The damp smell of the carpet, the buzzing of the florescent lights. That's what made the idea so striking and compelling.

Isn’t the whole point of the backrooms being a liminal space where there’s nothing but you? Just the inkling that you may or may not being watched? I personally like all types of things it’s kinda like silent hill but more silent

I thought that was the whole initial appeal of the backrooms being some empty liminal space you just can't leave and you eventually go insane

They're so uncomfortable with the idea of being alone that they wanna argue it isn't scary 😂

While the entity did make it more nerve wracking, the whole point is the tension and atmosphere the movie created with the liminal space! The horror of being in a room that never ends and getting lost!

the original concept of the backrooms was that nothing was there except the possibility of something you were just barely missing by chance because it's like a maze

The Backrooms is spooky and fun without an entity as well. Your friend is boring. Debate settled.

The whole reason that the backrooms is creepy is the fact that is a large place that looks like it should be full of people but it’s not.

I like that concept in a game like pools where you are just walking with no monster but you still feel watched but don't know how well it could be a full length movie

I think what makes the backrooms scary is that it makes the feeling of being wached even more scary than normal because you can tell you're being wached and what ever it is it's not human

no because the backrooms not having any entities but still having the mc feeling watched is perfect because we the audience are the ones truly watching it kind of feels like paranoia that breaks the forth wall, it'd be especially cool if the camera were to legitimately move with the mc instead of just panning to them yk like actually following them around

I don't think it would even be as hard to make a movie like that and have it not be boring as people think, the movie about the two girls that got stuck on top of the tower they climbed is a similar premise to me and it seemed to work fine

I like the idea of there being an “entity” that’s really just the character’s mind playing tricks on them, like when that chair in the corner of your room looks like a person in the dark.

I feel like the horror of realizing you’ll never be able to leave this place that was never designed for you is just as scary as a monster
