I’m no expert in French but it took me 3 years to get to a point where I was able to listen and understand confidently. The InnerFrench podcast on Spotify is perfect in my opinion, for training your ears for French

I studied French for many years from the time I was 12 in seventh grade until college and I agree that it is very hard to pronounce. I think part of it is because English is very much in the front of your mouth whereas French lies more in the back of your throat so it’s like having to learn how to speak all over again. My best advice is to slow down and really think about how to pronounce the words and say it slowly and then speed up.
