when I was in HS in Salina taking an environmental science class we were supposed to take a trip to the where they treat the water. It was cancelled for "unknown reasons" and when the teacher pressed for more details they REFUSED to say why. And now we know, because they aren't treating the water at all.

Damn 20-25 years ago when I was a kid I could drink water out of my great grandmas sink when visiting her in Salina. I've seen recent pictures and videos of what it looks like now. My home town doesn't have the greatest tap water but it's at least drinkable. How can small towns have better drinking water then one of the major cities in Kansas?

When I moved here in 1981 from Kansas City, Kansas, I thought the tap water was going to be drinkable just like it was back home. It was not. I had to start buying 5 gallon water bottles for drinking and cooking. It was okay for showers and laundry, but that’s it.

We can afford to spend over $1 million trying to fight the Cozy Inn because of a mural that THEY are paying out of their own pocket for on their building. But we can’t fix so many issues in this town. I’m not against art or beautification of the city, but as a taxpayer in this town, I sure feel like some of our priorities are most certainly not in the right order. I could be wrong but all that money we wasted fighting a small business in this town probably could have been allocated towards improving our infrastructure. 🤷🏻♂️

they'd rather spend $30k to have an outside consulting firm look at the animal shelter. they'd rather spend $800k to sue a business for their mural. but yes, let's vote on a beautiful mural on the side of the new fire station while our citizens deal with nasty ass water. I'm so glad I'm not in Salina. but I'm in Saline County still.
